April in North Texas has a narrow window where almost everything is perfect — the heat hasn't locked in, the late frosts are past, and the Shed is running the deepest variety of the entire year. The Blossoms & Berries Festival, April 25–26, is designed to live inside that window.

30+ Specialty Vendors

The festival brings 30+ specialty vendors into The Shed and Pearl Street Plaza beyond the regular weekend lineup — terrarium builders, native plant nurseries, specialty flower growers, small-batch preserves, and boutique honey producers. The Information Booth will have a festival vendor map available by 9am Saturday.

Terrarium Workshops

Two terrarium workshops run Saturday: a beginner session at 10am ($45) and an intermediate session at 1pm ($65). Each includes a glass vessel, a curated selection of succulents and air plants, decorative gravel, and a soil mix developed for low-maintenance care. Register at the Information Booth — space is limited to 20 per session.

"If you can only make it to The Shed once this spring, late April is your answer. The berries are peaking, the flowers are going, and the market is as full as it gets."

Native Plant Talks — Dallas Master Gardeners

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Master Gardeners are at Pearl Street Plaza both days with a rotating schedule of 20-minute talks on native plants suited to North Texas gardens — drought tolerance, pollinator value, and how to integrate native species with existing landscaping. Free, no registration needed. Talk schedule posted at the Information Booth.

What's in the Shed This Weekend

The Blossoms & Berries weekend is peak for Texas strawberries, blueberries (early crop, hit or miss by vendor), spring herbs in full availability, sweet onions, snow peas, and the last of the season's cool-weather greens before heat sets in. Flower vendors are bringing their best of the season.

Berry Buying Tips

Texas strawberries at the Shed are picked ripe rather than shipped green. They don't last as long as grocery store berries — plan to use them within 2 days. Don't refrigerate until you're ready; let them sit at room temperature if eating same-day. They're worth treating like the occasion they are.

The Shed is open Saturdays 8am–5pm and Sundays 10am–5pm. The Blossoms & Berries Festival runs April 25–26. Workshop registration opens at the Information Booth from 9am Saturday.
