About the Market
Texas grown, every weekend.
The Shed is Dallas Farmers Market's outdoor farmers market — the heart of DFM since 1941. Every Saturday and Sunday, 80 or more Texas farmers, ranchers, and food artisans set up under the open-air pavilion at 920 S. Harwood. No chains, no resellers: every vendor is a Texas producer selling what they grew, raised, caught, or made themselves.
The market runs year-round, rain or shine. Saturday brings the full house — the widest vendor lineup, the biggest crowds, and the best selection of the week's harvest. Sunday is the slower, easier morning: same producers, slightly less competition for the good peaches. Both days are worth the trip.
Admission is always free. SNAP and EBT are accepted at the market info kiosk, with a dollar-for-dollar match up to $10 through the Double Up Food Bucks program. The Market Building is open next door for air-conditioned dining and shopping after your Shed visit.
What You'll Find
Eighty-plus reasons to come.
- Seasonal fruits and vegetables — Direct from Texas farms. Tomatoes, corn, peaches, greens, peppers, melons, sweet potatoes, and whatever's at peak that week. Changes every Saturday.
- Pasture-raised eggs and dairy — Fresh eggs from small Texas farms, plus raw-milk cheeses, artisan butter, and cultured dairy from producers who know their animals by name.
- Grass-fed beef, heritage pork, and lamb — Texas ranchers selling cuts, ground, and whole animals. Many offer custom freezer orders. Ask at the stall.
- Raw honey, preserves, and pantry — Texas wildflower honey, varietal honeycombs, artisan jams, fermented hot sauces, and pickles made with Shed produce.
- Baked goods and prepared foods — Fresh sourdough, pastries, tamales, grain bowls, tacos, and ready-to-eat lunches from Texas food artisans. Real food, made that morning.
- Cut flowers and plants — Fresh-cut seasonal bouquets and potted herbs from Texas growers. Saturday mornings are when the best arrangements go first.
Tips for Shopping
Make the most of your visit.
- Arrive early on Saturday. The Shed opens at 8am, and the most popular vendors — especially eggs, heritage meat, and flowers — sell out before 11. Sunday is slower and more relaxed if you prefer it.
- Bring reusable bags or a cart. Many vendors have bags for purchase, but your own is better — especially for produce and heavy items. A rolling cart is a regulars' secret weapon.
- Cash and card both work. Most vendors accept credit and debit cards. A little cash on hand helps with smaller purchases and a few cash-only stalls.
- SNAP / EBT accepted. Stop at the DFM info booth at the Shed entrance to exchange your EBT for market tokens. Your first $10 is matched dollar-for-dollar through Double Up Food Bucks.
- Walk the whole Shed before buying. The full lineup wraps around the pavilion. A single pass gives you a sense of who's there and what's fresh before you commit. Prices often drop near closing time.
- Dogs on leash are welcome. Friendly leashed dogs do great in The Shed. Keep them close on busy Saturday mornings. Water is available at the info booth.
